PITTSFORD, NY – Senior Nathan Bowers started the season strong with a fifth place finish followed by junior Matt Reimann in sixth position to lead the Nazareth College Men's Cross Country team to a second place team finish at the season-opening Terry Rodenbeck Invitational meet at St. John Fisher.
Bowers clocked a 19:48.2 in the 6K race and Reimann was close behind with a time of 19:50.0.
Geneseo won the team title with six of the top eight finishers for a 17 point finish. Nazareth was second with 61 points followed by RIT (71 points), St. John Fisher (88), Hobart (158) and SUNY Corning (185).
Sophomores Ethan Kenyon (20:10.1) and Cade Eells (20:11.1) finished side-by-side in 12th and 13th place and junior Kenny Williams (20:58.1) rounded out the Nazareth scoring with a 23rd place finish.
Additional finishers for the Golden Flyers included Ethan Glashauser (21:08.0), freshmen Joey Everts (21:12.9), Antonio Benitez (21:14.5) and Cam Almy (21:38.7), senior Patrick Healy (21:51.8), freshmen Connor Jackson (22:03.4), Gavin McAllister (22:34.7) and Aidan Meyer (23:09.1).
Nazareth will compete next weekend at the Hamilton College Short Course Invitational.
