Nazareth sweeps Baldwin Wallace in weekend finale

Golden Flyers (14-2 overall) host St. John Fisher Wednesday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Colin Donahue had seven kills and Owen Wickens had 21 assists and six service aces as Nazareth defeated Baldwin Wallace in three sets in a non-conference men's volleyball match Sunday at the Kidera Gymnasium. Scores were 25-19, 25-16, 25-23.

Nazareth, ranked 13th nationally in Division III, improved to 14-2 as the Golden Flyers won two of three weekend matches. Baldwin Wallace dropped to 4-7.

Donahue's seven kills came on eight swings as the team's primary middle blocker for a .875 hitting percentage. Wickens' six aces improved his total for the season to 57, equaling Nazareth's single-season record set by Robert Kraft in 2010.

Four of Wickens' aces came in the opening set along with five of Donahue's kills as Nazareth posted a .478 hitting percentage (15-4-23) to take an early advantage. The second set featured three kills for Max Stuver and service aces for Wickens, Alex Bertino and Jackson Camblin.

Nazareth led 20-14 late in the third set, before the Yellow Jackets rallied to within 23-22. The Golden Flyers were able to close out the match thanks to a BW hitting error and a kill from Bertino, who finished with three kills and two aces.

Nazareth is home again Wednesday for a non-conference match against St. John Fisher at 7 p.m. The Golden Flyers also open their United Volleyball Conference schedule with road matches Friday at NYU and Saturday at Bard.
