Junior Ally Watrous scored a pair of goals and senior co-captain Keeley Rose had three assists to lead the Nazareth College Women's Hockey team to its 16th consecutive victory with a 7-0 win over Arcadia Saturday in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
Watrous opened the scoring late in the first period as she picked up a rebound and slapped the puck into the open side of the net with 5:14 left in the opening period for the Golden Flyers, ranked No. 7 in the latest USCHO.com poll.
One minute later, freshman Maggie Pfalzgraf scored one of the most acrobatic goals of the season as she took a centering pass from senior Elie Fallieras and dove over a defenders stick and shot while flying through the air and score to give Nazareth (16-0-0 overall, 12-0-0 UCHC) the two-goal lead.
Senior Abbey Luth and Watrous each scored goals in the second period to extend the Nazareth lead. Both goals came on power plays as Arcadia (3-11-0, 2-7-0 UCHC) was whistled for four penalties in the middle stanza.
Sophomore Kate Cascio scored her first career goal just 31 seconds into the third period as she finished a centering pass from Rose to give the Golden Flyers a 5-0 lead.
Junior Makenna Wiljanen scored midway through the period with another assist from Rose and senior Madison Nichols added the seventh Nazareth goal of the afternoon 25 seconds later to cap the scoring.
Sophomore McKinley Hoff made seven saves for Nazareth and earned the shutout victory as Nazareth held an opponent scoreless for the 10th time this season.
Nazareth will face No. 3 ranked Elmira Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at the Bill Gray's Iceplex.
