Lyden, Nichols take UCHC honors

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Ivey Lyden, a freshman defender, and Madison Nichols, a senior forward, have been named Rookie and Player of the Week respectively for women's hockey by the United Collegiate Hockey Conference for the period that ended Dec. 5.

Lyden, of Tomah, Wis., was named the league's top rookie for the second time this season after recording one goal and one assist as Nazareth gained a two-game sweep of visiting Neumann over the weekend. She had an assist in the Golden Flyers 11-0 win over the Knights last Thursday and then scored the game-winning goal in Friday's 3-1 win. She has two goals and seven assists for the season.

Nichols, of Trinity, Fla., totaled six points on two goals and four assists in the two victories. She had two goals and three assists in Thursday's win and added an assist on Friday. She leads the Golden Flyers in scoring with 21 points on six goals and a team-best 15 assists through 10 games.

Nazareth carries a perfect 10-0 overall record into this weekend's home games against Hamilton (Friday at 6 p.m.) and Amherst (Saturday at 3 p.m.).
