Abbey Luth had two goals and two assists and
Nikolle Van Stralen also scored twice for visiting Nazareth Saturday as the Golden Flyers had little difficulty in a women's hockey match at Chatham, winning 8-1.
The Golden Flyers had a 58-11 advantage in shots on goal and also got goals from
Makenna Wiljanen,
Olivia Miller-Johnson,
Keeley Rose and
Cristina Darby to improve to 11-2-1 overall and 5-1 in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference. Chatham slipped to 5-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference action.
Nazareth outshot Chatham 21-0 in building a commanding 4-0 lead in the first period. The Golden Flyers added three more goals in the second period and one more in the third.
Luth, Wiljanen, Van Stralen and Miller-Johnson scored for Nazareth in the first period and
Madison Nichols had three assists. Van Stralen's goal, with assists from Luth and Nichols at 10:23, came on the power play after an interference penalty accessed to Chatham's Kerry Carr.
Nazareth had a 22-4 shooting advantage in the second period, but Chatham scored its only goal at the 6:22 mark. The Golden Flyers, though, were not seriously challenged as Luth scored her second goal of the game and ninth of the season and Van Stralen and Rose also scored to extend the one-sided advantage.
The third period featured the first goal of the season for Darby, who was assisted by Van Stralen at 15:32.
Adrianna Brehm played the first two periods in goal for Nazareth and had four saves.
Noelle Giroux had seven saves in the third period.
The Golden Flyers play again Sunday at Lebanon Valley at 2 p.m.
