ROCHESTER, NY – Freshman Megan McCraith scored with 3:17 left in the second overtime Saturday afternoon to lift the Nazareth College women's soccer team to a thrilling 2-1 victory over St. Lawrence University in a non-conference game at Golden Flyer Stadium.
Nazareth applied relentless offensive pressure throughout the second overtime period before McCraith took a back pass from sophomore Ashley Plane and sent a hard shot into the lower corner past the diving St. Lawrence goalie for the game-winning goal.
St. Lawrence (3-1) scored first on a rebounded shot after senior goalie Hannah Miller made two diving saves. The goal came early in the second half.
Miller was fantastic as she made 12 saves on the day including several diving stops.
The Golden Flyers applied offensive pressure late in the second half and earned a pair of corner kicks but it was a direct kick after a St. Lawrence foul from 25 yards out that sophomore Mia Longo lifted a shot into the upper corner for the tying goal.
Nazareth held a 28-18 advantage in shots and led the Saints 7-3 in corner kicks.
The Golden Flyers return to action at 5 pm Tuesday at home as the College at Brockport visits for another non-conference game.
