CORTLAND, NY – Junior Deanna Tinch improved by three strokes on the second day of the Cortaca Invitational Tournament Sunday and led the Nazareth College women's golf team to a fifth place finish as a team in the two-day tournament that started Saturday at Ithaca and finished Sunday at Cortland.
Tinch made par on nine of the 18 holes Sunday to score an 86 (+14) and finished in 15th place overall. She shot a +17 on the first day of the tournament.
Nazareth was fifth as a team with a combined 755 (+88). Cortland won the team championship with a +39, 653 while Ithaca was one stroke back for second place and Drew was third (+144, 720). Suffolk University was fourth (+174, 750) and Nazareth was five strokes back in fifth. Utica was sixth with a +183, 759 four strokes behind the Golden Flyers.
Freshman Holly Ebert was second for Nazareth with a +42, 186 in 23rd place and fellow freshman Danielle Caringi was next in 29th place with a +50, 194.
Sophomore Olivia Minor was fourth for Nazareth with +56, 200 and Makenzie Robbins rounded out the scoring for the Golden Flyers with a 275, +131.
Nazareth will compete next weekend at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship at the Colonie CC in Voorheesville.
