CLIFTON SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Freshman
Holly Ebert was the top individual finisher for Nazareth Sunday as the Golden Flyers' women's golf team turned in a fifth-place finish at the annual William Smith Invitational at Clifton Springs Country Club.
Nazareth had team scores of 380 and 374 in the two-day event for a 754 total to place fifth in the nine-team field. Hamilton won the team competition with a two-day score of 655 on the par-72, 5,804-yard layout. Ithaca (666) was second, followed by Cortland (690), Union (708) and Nazareth (754). William Smith (802), Utica (821), Keuka (904) and St. Lawrence (952) also competed.
Ebert, of Penfield, N.Y., had scores of 90 and 89 for a two-day total of 179, good for a tie for 19th place individually.
Sophomore
Deanna Tinch was Nazareth's next best finisher with rounds of 91 and 93 for a 184 total and a tie for 24th place. Freshman
Danielle Caringi finished three strokes behind Tinch and in 29th place following rounds of 95 and 92 for a 187 total.
Freshmen
Olivia Minor (104-100 -- 204) and
Makenzie Robbins (143-139 -- 282) also competed for the Golden Flyers, who compete again Sept. 28-29 at the Cortaca Tournament. Â
