ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth won its regular-season women's lacrosse finale in convincing fashion Saturday as the Golden Flyers built a 16-0 halftime lead on their way to a 24-0 victory over Alfred.

The victory was the fourth straight for the Golden Flyers, who improved to 10-7 overall and 6-2 in Empire 8 Conference action. Alfred is 1-13 and 0-8. The shutout win was the fourth in Nazareth's 27-year history, the last one coming in a 15-0 win over Houghton in 2015.

Nazareth dominated Saturday's action from start to finish with a 41-2 edge in shots and a 20-4 advantage in draw controls. Nazareth also forced 13 Alfred turnovers and none of the three Nazareth goalies -- Brianna Rizzari, Madison Fox and Emma Prosak -- needed to make a save.

Phoebe Barnett had a game-high four goals while Callahan Lyon, Emma Robinson and Hannah Dlugosz each scored three times. Rachel Wilson had a career-best four assists and Lily Aldrich had three, increasing her single-season total to 37.

Rizzari, one of the four seniors honored prior to the game, played 37 minutes in goal. The other three seniors -- Kellie Byrne, Kyra Kempney and Arianna Torpey -- also contributed. Byrne scored twice and added two assists. Kempney had 10 draw controls, four ground balls and two caused turnovers and Torpey scored a goal in the second half.

Nazareth scored seven times in the first 10 minutes with Robinson and Lyon each scoring twice. Nazareth added nine more goals before the half ended with Barnett scoring all four of her goals and Wilson contributing three of her assists. The second half included Robinson's team-leading 46th goal of the season, plus two goals each for Regan McGwin and Emma Parry.

The victory assured the Golden Flyers the fourth seed for next weekend's Empire 8 Conference Tournament that will be hosted by top-seeded St. John Fisher. Games will be Saturday and Sunday at times to be determined.
