Robinson Scores Four as Nazareth Powers Past Elmira

ELMIRA, NY – Freshman Emma Robinson scored four times in the first half to lead the Nazareth College women's lacrosse team to a convincing 18-1 victory over Elmira College Saturday afternoon in the Empire 8 opener for each team.

Robinson scored three of the first five goals in the first nine minutes of the game as Nazareth (4-3 overall, 1-0 E8) took control early. Junior Emily Allen and sophomore Regan McGwin added goals for the Golden Flyers in the opening minutes of the contest.

McGwin scored her second of the day at 19:46 and freshman Phoebe Barnett scored 20 seconds later to push the lead to 7-0.

Junior Rachel Wilson scored twice in a span of 1:15 before Robinson added her fourth goal of the afternoon as the Golden Flyers took a 10-0 lead with 15:40 left in the first half to force a running clock for the remainder of the contest.

Senior Kellie Byrne scored at 8:57 before Elmira (0-7, 0-1) scored its only goal of the game with 4:13 left in the opening half.

Byrne added her second goal of the game to start the second half. Freshman Emma Parry scored twice in a span of 1:21 to increase the lead to 15-1.

Juniors Addilys Geitner and Lily Aldrich each scored later in the period before Parry capped the scoring with her third of the game with 31 seconds left to play.

Nazareth dominated in every statistical category with a shots advantage of 41-4 and a 17-3 edge in draw controls.

Three players finished with four points each as Robinson had four goals, Aldrich had a goal and three assists and Wilson added two goals and two assists. Robinson had eight draw controls while Parry led the team with six ground balls and five caused turnovers.

The Golden Flyers used three goalies as Brianna Rizzari, Madison Fox and Emma Prosak combined to make two saves in the Nazareth goal.

Nazareth returns to action Wednesday with an Empire 8 home game at 7 p.m. against St. John Fisher.
