VOORHEESVILLE, NY – Junior Deanna Tinch shot a 187 and freshman Holly Ebert was seven strokes back at 194 to lead the Nazareth College women's golf team to a sixth place finish Sunday at the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship at the Colonie Country Club.
Tinch had a 90 in Saturday's first round and shot a 97 in the second round while Ebert shot 96 and 98 in her two rounds of the championship.
Cortland won the team title with a combined 687 and Utica was second with a team total of 764. Suffolk (771) was third followed by Johnson & Wales (772), Husson (776) and Nazareth (782). The Golden Flyers were ahead of Keuka (872), Canton (951) while Manhattanville, St. John Fisher and Westfield State did not have complete team scores.
Sophomore Olivia Minor was third for Nazareth with a 197 and freshman Danielle Caringi was fourth on the team with a 204 while fellow freshman Makenzie Robbins finished with a 284 after struggling on the first day and finishing with a 30-stroke improvement on day two.
The Golden Flyers will host the Nazareth Invitational next weekend with round one at the Monroe CC Saturday and a second round at Irondequoit CC Sunday to wrap up the fall season.
