ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth was dominated by Washington & Jefferson Saturday in an Empire 8 Conference field hockey match on the artificial turf field. Benefiting from a 46-1 advantage in shots, the Presidents blanked the Golden Flyers 3-0.

W&J remained unbeaten at 7-0 overall and 2-0 in Empire 8 Conference games. Nazareth is 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

It was a busy day for senior goalie Kimber Nourse, who was called upon to make 22 saves as the Presidents pressured Nazareth from start to finish. Claire Shaak and Sofiya Bobrovnikova scored first-half goals to give W&J the lead at the half.

The Golden Flyers were then able to hold the visitors off the scoreboard until less than six minutes remained in the second half, when Shaak scored again -- her third goal of the season -- off an assist from Rachel Fromm.

Senior Sarah Dugas managed to generate the only shot for the Golden Flyers, who are home again Wednesday to play Keuka in a non-conference match at 5 p.m. Washington & Jefferson, also receiving votes in the national poll, has yielded just one goal this season with six of its wins coming by shutout. The Presidents have won seven straight over Nazareth and are 11-4 against the Golden Flyers overall.
