NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's golf teams completed competition Sunday at the Hamilton Invitational at Yahnundasis Country Club. Each team placed seventh in the team standings following the two-day competition.
Hamilton finished first in the men's team standings with rounds of 301 and 295 for a two-round total of 596. Nazareth went 323 and 320 for a 643 total.
In the women's competition, Nazareth had scores of 413 and 408 and a seventh-place total of 821. Hamilton finished first with scores of 338 and 341 for a 679 total.
In the women's tournament, sophomore
Sara McCall was the Golden Flyers' top finisher with 96 and 97 for a 193 total, good for 24th place. Sophomore
Deanna Tinch was next in 33rd place with scores of 107 and 100 for a 207 total.
Other competitors were junior
Olivia Dowdle in 34th place (97-115 -- 212); sophomore Gabriella Groman in 36th place (113-101 -- 214) and freshman
Keelin Paquette in 38th place (113-100 -- 223).
Nazareth's men's team returns to action next weekend at the St. John Fisher Invitational. The women's team plays Sept. 15 and 16 at the William Smith Invitational.
Freshman Jake Costa followed up Saturday's 74 with a score of 82 Sunday for a 156 total, good for a tie for 15th place individually. Senior Dominic Cicchetti was Nazareth's next finisher in 28th place with scores of 83 and 79 for a 162 total.
Junior Andrew Fleischman was one stroke behind Cicchetti after scores of 81 and 82 for a 163 total, good for 30th place. Freshman Bryce Dorough was another stroke back in 32nd place with scores of 85 and 79 for a 164 total. Junior Jordan Holley dropped 16 shots between Saturday and Sunday with scores of 96 and 80 for a 176 total.
