Nazareth and Sage battle to scoreless tie

TROY, N.Y. -- Nazareth and host Sage finished in a 0-0 tie as neither the Golden Flyers nor the Gators were able to find the back of the net in the teams' first Empire 8 game of the season. Junior Brian Wilkin finished with a game-high seven saves, including one on Liam Hayes' breakaway to begin the first overtime session. Towards the end of the second overtime period, Wilkin stopped a shot by River Seybolt to preserve the tie.

Following the tie, Nazareth stands at 3-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference games. Sage stands at 0-4-1 overall and 0-0-1 in Empire 8 contests.

The Golden Flyers recorded two of their three shots on goal during the overtime sessions. Freshmen Sam Smyth and Zein Mohamed each had shots stopped by the Gators' Mike Chiaravolloti in overtime.

Each team finished with 12 total shots while Nazareth had a 7-5 edge in corner kick opportunities.

The Golden Flyers are in action again on September 18th for a non-conference game at Pitt-Bradford.
