Saints Slip Past Men's Lacrosse, 16-8

Canton, NY – Facing its third ranked opponent in as many games, Nazareth fell 16-8 to 17th-ranked St. Lawrence on Saturday. 

The Golden Flyers are now 2-8 on the year, while the Saints improve to 6-2.

Nazareth struggled out of the gates once again, as St. Lawrence scored the first five goals of the game.  Drew McNerney found the cage with :23 seconds remaining in the opening quarter to make it 5-1.

The only other goal Nazareth scored in the half came from Jon Lippert, off an assist from Jeremy Jacob.

The Saints scored three more times to make it 8-2 at the break.

Nazareth's Tim Vinton had a solid day in the face-off circle, winning 17-of-27 attempts.

Paul Walter scored Nazareth's lone man-up goal in the third quarter, as the Golden Flyers finished 1-for-5 on the extra-man.

The lead blossomed to 14-5 after three quarters.  Anthony Basile scored all three of his goals in the fourth.

Jack Crowley notched two goals and one assist.  Chris Murphy added two assists.

Alex Winkler suffered the loss in net, allowing 10 goals and making two saves in 34:09 of play.  Andrew Leahey allowed four goals in 10:51 of action.  Rick Kronenwett was between the pipes for the entire fourth, making three saves.  

Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Ithaca at 4 p.m. for a non-conference matchup.
