Women's Lax Stumbles at No.13 William Smith

Geneva, NY – Visiting Nazareth struggled to take care of the ball, losing a season-high 34 turnovers, as the Golden Flyers fell 11-3 to No. 13 William Smith on Saturday.  Junior goalie Brianna Rizzari was a bright spot once again for Nazareth, backstopping a career-high 18 in the cage.

Nazareth falls to 2-2 on the year with the defeat, while the Herons move to 2-1.  The Golden Flyers will now head to Port Charotte, Florida for their spring break trip, taking on Messiah at 10 a.m. Wednesday, followed by Keene State on Friday.

The Herons made their presence felt all day, outshooting Nazareth 40-16 in the contest.  That allowed the hosts to jump out to a 6-1 halftime lead.

Trailing 4-0, senior Haley DeVona scored Nazareth's first, and only goal of the half, with 14:28 remaining off an assist from Kellie Byrne

Rizzari made 12 of her 18 saves in the opening half as the Herons mustered 24 shots to just three for Nazareth.

Addilys Geitner scored her first goal of the season nearly nine minutes in the second half to make it 7-2.

Jamie Martin had the other goal for Nazareth.
