Field hockey falls at Ithaca in overtime, 1-0

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Host Ithaca scored the game-winning goal less than four minutes into the first overtime period Thursday to lift the Bombers to a 1-0 non-conference field hockey victory Nazareth.

Ithaca improved to 8-3 overall, while Nazareth slipped to 6-6. The Golden Flyers are home again Sunday to host Skidmore at 1 p.m.

Despite being outshot 15-1 in the first half, Nazareth was able to keep Ithaca off the scoreboard as senior goalie Kimber Nourse made 10 saves. Nazareth was able to pick up the offensive pressure in the second half with a 10-7 edge in shots, but rhe game remained scoreless after 70 minutes.

In overtime, the Bombers scored on their first shot as Kristen Rafferty scored her fifth goal of the season off a pass from Maria McGloin to end the game.

Senior Jessica Livesey generated four of Nazareth's 11 total shots, including three on goal. Senior Leah Good and freshman Mikaylee Whalen each had two shots. Nourse finished with 12 saves, while Ithaca's Savanna Lenker had five.
