ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting St. John Fisher knocked off Nazareth Wednesday in an Empire 8 Conference field hockey match as the Cardinals built a 3-0 lead and went on to take a 7-2 victory over the Golden Flyers.
The defeat eliminates the Golden Flyers from post-season contention in the E8 as they dropped to 8-10 overall and 3-4 in conference play. Fisher improved to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the E8. Nazareth will be home Saturday for its final regular-season game against Utica at 1 p.m. The Golden Flyers will be honoring their five seniors --

Emily Prescott.
The Golden Flyers fought hard Wednesday, but couldn't overcome the Cardinals' offensive firepower as Lauren Fazio scored three goals and added an assist and Bre Socker scored twice and added an assist.
Jessica Livesey and
Leah Good had goals for Nazareth.
The Cardinals scored twice in the first half -- goals by Reghan Amoroso and Socker -- to take control. They scored again on a goal by Fazio early in the second half.
Nazareth finally cracked the scoring column in the 42nd minute as Livesey converted her team-best 12th goal. Freshman Mikaylee Wha;len slid a pass in front of the goal that Fisher keeper Ashley Maynard made a play on, but Livesey was there to shoot it into the unoccupied goal.
Fisher scored the next four goals to pull away for a 7-1 lead, before Good scored her third goal of the season off a rebound with 2:45 left.
Fisher finished with 24 shots to eight for Nazareth. Nourse had 12 saves in goal for Nazareth while Maynard made three.
