ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host RIT scored two goals in the first 20 minutes and tacked on two more before halftime as the Tigers dominated the Golden Flyers in a rain-soaked non-conference women's soccer match, 7-0.
With the Golden Flyers' roster somewhat depleted by injury, including a leg injury to leading scorer
Mary LoCicero, the Tigers took advantage by improving to 6-3 overall, while Nazareth had a six-game unbeaten streak (3-0-3) snapped as they dropped to 5-3-3 overall.
Marla Roberts had two goals and one assist for the Tigers, who also got one goal and one assist from Lauren Zeglen and Emily Thiel.
Mia White and Thiel scored before the game was 20 minutes old. Then Zeglen and Rachel Strader scored before the first half expired.
In the second half, Roberts added both of her goals, sandwiched around a tally by Monique Polonco.
RIT had a 16-4 edge in shots and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior
Hannah Miller went the distance in goal for Nazareth and made four saves.
Kristen Prohaska generated two of Nazareth's shots.
Caleigh Cahoon and
Mia Blitsch had the others.
The Golden Flyers return to Empire 8 Conference play this weekend with home games Saturday against Alfred and Sunday against Hartwick. Both games start at 1 p.m.
