Rochester, NY – Host St. John Fisher scored three times in each half to earn a 6-0 victory Saturday over Nazareth in Empire 8 action. Fisher came into the contest red-hot, winners of seven straight games.
Nazareth falls to 1-8 on the season and 0-3 in Empire 8 play with the loss, while Fisher, who is receiving votes in the NFHCA National Poll, improves to 8-1 and 4-0, respectively.
Fisher's Emily Markarian scored twice in the in the first 5:28 to give the Cardinals an early 2-0 advantage.
The score remained that way until Bre Socker scored off a penalty corner at 20:42.
Fisher was at it again 10 minutes into the second half as Kelly Bergamo found the net.
The high-powered Cardinal offense netted two more goals just :45 seconds apart, seven minutes after the Bergamo goal to close out the scoring.
Nazareth had six shots in the game, four of them coming from
Jennifer Hilts.
Courtney Brock and
Lydia Dewart also had a shot in the game.
Kimber Nourse played 58:37 in the contest, making 11 saves.
Ashley Mann closed out the game with two saves.
Nazareth returns to action next Saturday, hosting Hartick at 1 p.m.
