ROCHESTER, NY – Tenth-ranked Brockport scored five unanswered goals over nearly 30 minutes of game action to help earn a 6-5 win Wednesday over Nazareth in its season-opener.  Haley DeVona and Nicole DeVona each tallied two goals in the loss.

Nazareth drops to 0-1 on the season, while the Golden Eagles remain unbeaten at 3-0.

Nazareth jumped out to a 3-1 lead 11 minutes into the contest.  Nicole DeVona found the back of the net off a free position shot to start the scoring.  After a Brockport answer to even the score, Kate Rothrock assisted on back-to-back goals to Gabbie Charles and Haley DeVona for the early advantage.

Brockport, however, scored the final three goals of the half, including a tally from Taylor Thomas with 1:35 on the clock to take a 4-3 lead into the break.  Brockport would not surrender the lead the rest of the contest.

After Brockport scored two goals to open the half, Nazareth eventually broke its scoring drought nearly 12 minutes into the half on Nicole DeVona's second free position goal of the day.

Haley DeVona made it a one goal game with 8:45 remaining, but the Golden Flyers were unable to net the equalizer down the stretch.

Sophomore goalie Brianna Rizzari ended the game with six saves in net, while Brockport's Caitlin Cavallaro backstopped nine saves.
