ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth scored all eight of its goals in the first half Saturday as the Golden Flyers overwhelmed Elmira, 8-0, in the regular-season finale for women's soccer at Golden Flyer Stadium.

Nazareth improved to 12-4-1 overall and 7-1 in Empire 8 Conference action. Elmira is 1-14-1 overall and 0-8-1 in E8 play. Nazareth has now won six games in a row, the last four by shutout. The Golden Flyers have outshot the opposition 88-14 over the last four games.

The Golden Flyers honored their 11 seniors -- Julia Delgatti, Laura Herman, Jordyn Ruston, Alex Kiley, Kelsey Moss, Kate Billington, Samantha Sansone, Paige Sullivan, Nicole Petocchi, Erin Strollo and Sarah Conroy -- before the game and several worked their way into the scoring column as Nazareth jumped on the Soaring Eagles early and often.

Delgatti scored her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the eighth minute as she converted a through pass up the left wing from Kiley, who generated her first career point. Just three minutes later, Sansone scored her first goal of the season when she banged home a rebound of a shot by Paige Sullivan.

Ruston then delivered the next two goals, the first one unassisted, the second off a cross from Sansone on the right wing. That made the score 4-0 in the 16th minute.

Nazareth then added the next four goals in a five-minute stretch in the first half. Junior Megan Gallacchi scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Jessica Byrnes. Then a minute later, freshman Lauren Begy scored for the first time. Goals by Byrnes and Mary Kate Ordway followed to give Nazareth an insurmountable lead before halftime.

The Golden Flyers were able to empty the bench in the second half only to have all the seniors return for the final 10 minutes, including Strollo in goal for the first time in her career.

Nazareth finished with sizeable advantages in shots (28-5) and corner kicks (10-1).

Nazareth will compete next in the Empire 8 Tournament next Friday at Hartwick. The Golden Flyers will play Stevens in first-round action at 7 p.m.
