Cortland, NY – Junior netminder
Kimber Nourse made a season-high 26 saves, but it was not enough, as the Cortland Red Dragons downed Nazareth 6-0 Wednesday. Cortland, winners of nine-straight games, finished the game with a 39-2 advantage in shots.
With the loss, Nazareth drops to 2-15 overall, while the Red Dragons improve to 14-3.
Cortland put up 17 shots in the opening half, however, only two made it past the reach of Nourse.
Hannah Burchell netted her first of two goals in the half, beginning the scoring at the 5:37 mark off a rebound.
Burchell doubled up Nazareth near the midway point of the half on an unassisted goal. The score remained 2-0 heading into the break.
In the second half, Jessica Welsh found the net three times in less than a 17 minute span to open up a 5-0 margin.
Cortland tacked on one more goal with :09 seconds remaining in the game.

Lydia Dewart were the lone Golden Flyers credited with a shot in the contest.
Julia Parody recorded a defensive save for Nazareth.
Nazareth closes out the 2017 season on Saturday, traveling to Elmira for a 1 p.m. showdown. Each squad is 0-6 in the Empire 8, looking for its first conference win.
