CANTON, N.Y. -- Host St. Lawrence used three unanswered second-half goals Tuesday to overcome Nazareth in a non-conference field hockey game, 4-1, at the Saints' North Country Field.
Nazareth dropped to 1-11 overall, while St. Lawrence improved to 5-7.
After falling behind late in the first half, Nazareth tied the score at 46:27 when junior
Emily Prescott tallied an unassisted score.
St. Lawrence, however, put a quick halt to Nazareth's momentum as Kelsey Pollard scored the go-ahead goal just two minutes later with an assist from Lucy Stillman. The Saints kept up the pressure as Stillman scored off a one-timer shot off a pass from Bailey Sherman. Stillman assisted again on the Saints' fourth goal that was scored by Maggie Wraight with eight minutes left.Â
Nazareth generated 13 shots overall, including five from sophomore
Jennifer Hilts and three from freshman
Madison Bianchi. St. Lawrence had 26 shots, while each team had seven penalty corners.
Kimber Nourse made 14 saves for Nazareth and Sophie Cardenali had seven.
Nazareth returns to Empire 8 Conference action Friday with a home game against Houghton at 6 p.m.
