ALFRED, N.Y. -- Nazareth received goals from 12 different players on its way to an 18-4 victory over host Alfred in a women's Empire 8 lacrosse game on Saturday afternoon. Despite the cold, snowy conditions, the Golden Flyers' offense was torrid as Nazareth scored four times in a span of 3:12 early in the first half. Nazareth finished the period with 13 goals to take a commanding 12-goal lead into the break. Junior

Haley DeVona scored three goals apiece to lead the Golden Flyers' attack.
With the win, Nazareth improves to 7-4 overall and 2-1 in Empire 8 contests. Following the loss, the Saxons drop to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference games.
In the Golden Flyers' initial scoring run,
Haley DeVona, sophomore
Katie Carroll, junior
Jamie Martin, and senior
Carly Gates each scored. Rothrock was credited with an assist on Martin's goal, while the other goals were unassisted. Gates' goal provided Nazareth with a 4-0 lead 7:23 into the first half.
Following a goal by Alfred's Megan Wednt, Nazareth closed the half with nine goals in the final 19:26 of the period to give the Golden Flyers a 13-1 lead at the break. Rothrock answered Wednt's score with a pair of unassisted goals, which were separated by only 22 seconds.

Jessica Locey each scored twice during the Golden Flyers' scoring run, and 5th-year senior
Suzie Gray scored her 22nd goal of the season after receiving a pass from
Haley DeVona.
Nicole DeVona and
Hayley Spoljaric also had goals.
Nazareth extended its lead to 16-1 in the opening minutes of the second half following goals from freshman
Kellie Byrne, Rothrock, and junior
Gabbie Charles. Sophomore
Morgan Johnson was credited with an assist on the goals by Rothrock and Charles. Midway through the half, Gates stretched the Golden Flyers' lead to a game-high 16 goals with her second tally of the game and 17th of the season. With just under seven minutes to play in regulation, Johnson scored her third goal of the season to cap Nazareth's scoring.
After Gates' goal, Morgan Timmerman scored twice to chip into Nazareth's overwhelming lead. Wednt added her second goal of the game in the final five minutes to cut the Golden Flyers' victory margin to 14.
Nazareth had three players see action in net during Saturday's game. Freshman
Brianna Rizzari started and earned the win after she was credited with one save and one goal allowed in 30 minutes of playing time. Classmate
Felicity Love played roughly 15 minutes between the pipes and allowed a pair of goals while making a pair of saves, and sophomore
Mackenzie Corbett had two saves and allowed one goal in just over 15 minutes of action.Â
Alfred's Shannon Gray played all 60 minutes in the Saxons' net. She allowed 18 goals and amassed 18 saves as Nazareth peppered her with shots.
The Golden Flyers finished with advantages in total shots (41-16), ground balls (19-9), and draw controls collected (14-10).
Nazareth travels to 18th-ranked St. John Fisher on April 13th for a 7 p.m. Empire 8 game. The Golden Flyers return to Nazareth to host Stevens on April 16th at 12 p.m.
