ONEONTA, NY – Three Nazareth women won two individual events each and men's diver Zachary Fink swept the 1 and 3-meter diving events as host Hartwick won the dual meet Saturday.
Cameron Hess (500 and 1000 yard freestyle),
Brittany Heffler (200 breast and 100 backstroke) and
Desiree Kline (1 and 3 meter diving) were victorious on the women's side. Nazareth fell 173-126 on the men's side and 195-96 on the women's.
The Nazareth women opened strong with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as Heffler,
Erika Holland,
Kenna Hartmann and
Madeline Tryjankowski took the top spot in 1:56.39 ahead of Hartwick at 1:56.74.
Hess began the day with a first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:12.51. Teammate
Lillian Masters was fourth in 11:31.98. Later in the day, Hess earned top honors in the 500 free in 5:30.66. She also swam to second place in the 200 freestyle in 2:06.09, while
Shannon O'Malley was fourth with a 2:08.61.
Nazareth had a strong showing in the 100 backstroke. Heffler was first (1:10.92), followed by Holland (1:12.13) and Sarah Heaton took fourth in 1:15.10. In the 200 breast, Heffler touched the wall first (2:35.64) and Heaton was third (2:42.48).
Holland had a solid swim in the 100 butterfly, taking second place in 1:03.68.
For the diving events, Kline won the 1-meter with 225.70 points and 3-meter with 230.65 points.
Hannah Gunther (176.05),
Katie Kempf (162.65) and
Marissa Senior (152.15) followed behind Kline in the 3-meter.
On the men's side, Fink dove to first in the 1-meter with 183.25 points and also in the 3-meter with 203.85.
Gannon Connors notched a win in the 100 back (54.67) and was third in the 200 back (2:11.93). He was also second in the 50 freestyle which also featured Nazareth taking the third and fifth spots.
Connors came in at 22.84, Rob Coatsworth at 23.44 and Mark Dunkelberg in 23.81.
Alex LaPoint was first in the 200 IM in 2:01.07. He also swam to a pair of second place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.13) and 200 breastroke (2:15.79).
Matt Leverich also swam well for Nazareth, with second place touches in the 100 free (50.36) and 200 free (1:50.82).
In distance action, Robert Draper was second in the 5,000 with a time of 5:05.63.
Nazareth returns to action next Saturday, when it travels to St. Lawrence for a 1 p.m. meet.
