ResultsROCHESTER, NY – Dan Burke, Alex LaPoint, and
Cameron Hess each won three events in a dual meet at Rochester Institute of Technology Saturday, although both the men's and women's squads fell to the Tigers. The men fell by a score of 173-127, while the women dropped a 174.5-123.5 decision.
For the women, Hess began the day winning the 1000-yard freestyle in 11:00.92 and was followed by
Kimberly Pedrotti (11:16.94) in second place.
Hess also took the top mark in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:01.70, while
Lillian Masters placed third in 2:06.69.
The final win for Hess came in the 500-yard freestyle as she paved the way in 5:24.47, ahead of second place Masters (5:37.07).
Pedrotti also earned second place finishes in the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.89) and in the 200-yard IM (2:20.35).
Nazareth also received a pair of second place touches from
Brittany Heffler in the 100-yard (1:11.89) and 200-yard breastroke (2:37.11).
The 200-yard medley relay of Heffler,
Kenna Hartmann,
Erika Holland and
Shannon O'Malley placed second in a time of 1:59.05 in the opening event of the meet.
Another highlight for the women came from
Desiree Kline who vaulted to a first place finish in the 3-meter diving with 234.20 points.
Burke touched first in both backstroke events. The senior won the 100-yard back in 52.62 and the 200-yard back in 1:54.56. He also took the 200-yard IM in 2:00.82.
Equally as impressive was LaPoint who won the both the 100-yard (54.58) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:01.95) events. He also came back to win the 200-yard breastroke at 2:15.32.
The Golden Flyesr had a solid outing from Andrew Battaglia and Robert Draper in the 1000-yard freestyle as they took the top two spots. Battaglia clocked a 10:16.45 and Draper notched a 10:21.51.
Draper, fresh off a school-record last week in the 800-meter freestyle, won the 500-yard free in a time of 5:01.76.
Matt Leverich placed second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:49.72).
Nazareth's 200-yard medley relay of Burke, LaPoint, Sean Doyle and Gannon Connors were just edged out by RIT for the top spot at the beginning of the meet. Naz ripped off a 1:38.69 just .14 seconds of the Tigers.
Nazareth be in action next for the E8/UNYSCSA Championships at Ithaca College beginning February 17
th.
