Updated StatsUTICA, N.Y. – The Nazareth College men's soccer team gave up three goals in each half, falling 6-0 to host Utica College on Saturday in an Empire 8 contest.
With the loss, Nazareth falls to 0-9 overall and 0-2 in conference play, while Utica improves to 4-6, 1-1, respectively.
The host Pioneers seized momentum early in the game with a goal from Marcel Dupuis at the 6:29 mark. Less than five minutes later Utica made it a 2-0.
Nazareth nearly got on the board in the 24
th minute as
Hari Vidadala had his shot cleared off of the line by a Utica defender.
Later in the half, Shane Ruffing made it a three goal game in the 29
th minute for the final goal of the half.
After a strong first half, the Pioneers kept the pressure on scoring goals in the 47
th, 54
th, and 66
th minute. Ruffing had two goals and two assists for Utica.
Nazareth finished with 11 shots compared to 19 for Utica.
Alex McLean saw 60:45 of action, surrendering five goals and making five saves.
Nate Ripic closed out the game making one save in net.
Nazareth returns to action on Tuesday when it will travel to SUNY Geneseo for a 7 p.m. contest.
