PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- Host St. John Fisher outscored Nazareth 38-25 in the second half Saturday to break open a close game as the Cardinals went on to take a 73-52 women's basketball victory over the Golden Flyers at Fisher's Varsity Gymnasium.

The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Golden Flyers, who dropped to 14-8 overall and 9-4 in the Empire 8. Fisher is 17-5 overall and 10-3 in conference games. Nazareth's Lindsey Kelly produced a double-double in combining 17 points with 18 rebounds for Nazareth. Senior Hannah Runyon also reached double figures with 10 points. Senior Melissa Reeves had nine points and 10 rebounds.

Fisher's Mary Kate Cusack was a one-person wrecking crew for the Cardinals as she scored a game-high 30 points and connected on eight of 10 shots from three-point range. She scored 11 points in the first half, including three three-point baskets, as the Cardinals took a 35-27 lead at halftime. Kelly and Runyon each had eight first-half points for Nazareth, which committed 13 turnovers and shot 10-for-27 in the first 20 minutes.

Runyon's three-pointer with 7:12 left in the half gave Nazareth its final lead at 21-20 as Fisher closed the half with a 15-6 scoring run. In the second half, a 23-10 scoring run that included four three-pointers by Cusack over the first 10 minutes expanded Fisher's lead to 21 points, 59-38. The Fisher lead grew as large as 24 points, 66-42, with about seven minutes to go.

Nazareth had difficulty with Fisher's pressure defense as the Golden Flyers committed 24 turnovers and forced up several contested shots. Nazareth shot 17 for 50 from the field and 4 for 14 from three-point range. Fisher shot 27 for 61 from the field and 10 for 23 from three-point range.
