Updated StatsALFRED, N.Y – The Nazareth College women's soccer team took to the road on Tuesday night, dropping host Alfred University 5-0 in an Empire 8 contest.
With the win, Nazareth improves to 8-1-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play, while Alfred falls to 1-10-1 and 0-3, respectively.
It didn't take long for the Golden Flyers to get behind the Saxons defense as
Briana Vibbard took a bouncing through ball from
Katie Trainor and buried it into the net at the 6:32 mark.
Nazareth was able to add two more tallies right before the end of the half.
Paige Sullivan scored off a corner kick with the assist credited to
Laura Herman in the 43
rd minute.
Less than one minute later,
Nicole Petocchi scored off a penalty kick for her first career goal to make the score 3-0 at the half.
Petocchi was at it again in the 53
rd minute cashing in on a loose ball.
The Golden Flyers notched their final tally of the game in the 65
th minute as
Mary LoCicero threaded a pass to
Rachel Dise who scored for the third straight game.
Allison Dobles clocked 64:27 in net making one save.
Mackenzie Dunphy closed out the game for the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth returns to action at 12 p.m. on Saturday when it will host Elmira College.
