ResultsBROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Nazareth College men's and women's swimming and diving squads took to the pool Saturday, each picking up wins in dual meet at The College at Brockport. The men's team handled the Golden Knights 190-96, while the women were victorious 171-127.
On the women's side,
Kimberly Pedrotti,
Brenna Riley,
Erika Holland, and
Brittany Heffler secured the first event of the day with a 1:59.72 in the 200-yard medley relay.
The women featured
Cameron Hess and Pedrotti who each won three events on the day. Hess opened with a 11:07.98 to notch the 100-yard freestyle and returned back shortly after to win the 200-yard freestyle in 2:04.11. Her final win was in the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.77).
On the other hand, Pedrotti showed her versatility winning the 200-yard butterfly (2:22.02), the 200-yard breastroke (2:36.31) and the 200-yard IM (2:24.42).
Also picking up a win for the Golden Flyers was Heffler in the 100-yard breastroke (1:13.08).
The men's team set the tone early, taking the top two spots in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Dan Burke, Alex LaPoint, Sean Doyle, and Matt Leverich clocked a time of 1:39.96, while fellow teammates Gannon Connors, Mike Walsh, Ian Deveney, and Robert Ramos came in at 1:46.21.
The Golden Flyers saw Burke and LaPoint each win three events. Burke's strong day individually began with a win in the 100-yard backstroke as he touched the wall in 52:55. Later in the day he took the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.06, before closing out his meet with a win in the 200-yard IM (2:01.44).
LaPoint started the day with a win in the 200-yard butterfly (2:04.63) and ended the day taking the 100-yard butterfly (55.23). He also won the 100-yard freestyle in 49.94.
Robert Draper won the first individual event for Nazareth in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:28.22), while also taking the 500-yard freestyle (5:07.71) later in the day.
Two more wins were picked up by Rob Coatsworth, both in the breastroke. He clocked a 1:03.16 in the 100-yard and a 2:22.90 in the 200-yard.
The final win for the men came from Sean Doyle, who came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.46).
Nazareth returns to action next Saturday when it will host Hartwick at 1 p.m.
