Women's Soccer Takes Down Hartwick In Pivotal E8 Showdown, 2-0

Oneonta, N.Y. – The Nazareth College women's soccer team went on the road Saturday and won a pivotal Empire 8 contest, 2-0, over Hartwick College. 

With the win, Nazareth improves to 10-2-2 overall and 4-1-1 in Empire 8 play, while Hartwick falls to 8-3-2 and 2-2-2, respectively.  Nazareth is now guaranteed a spot in the Empire 8 tournament.

The first half was a defensive battle as the squads combined for just five shots.  Nazareth made good late in the half as Dana Donnelly blasted a shot into the top right corner with five minutes remaining for a 1-0 advantage.

Nazareth kept its momentum going out of the break, as Briana Vibbard registered her team-leading sixth goal of the season.  Vibbard was able to get in behind the defense, chipping the goalkeeper to score the final goal of the game.

The Golden Flyers outshoot the Hawks 7-5 in the match.

Allison Dobles made one save in net for Nazareth.

Nazareth will host East Avenue rival St. John Fisher at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
