Stevens comes back to defeat Nazareth, 58-46

HOBOKEN, NJ – Nazareth was defeated 58-46 by Stevens Institute of Technology.  The Golden Flyers led 40-39 with 8:54 left before the Ducks took the lead for good with 8:10 remaining.  Stevens is 13-7, 6-4 in the Empire 8 and Nazareth is now 7-12 and 2-7 in conference.
 
The Golden Flyers held the lead in both halves but scoring droughts again cost Nazareth the game.  After the Golden Flyers regained the 40-39 lead with 8:54 left in the game, they only scored six more points in the game while the Ducks would go on to score 19.
 
In the first half, the score was tied 13-13 at 11:21 in the when the Ducks went on an 11-0 run to take a 24-13 lead with 6:31 remaining in the half.  Julia Brew stopped the five minute scoring drought scoring a three-pointer at 6:03 to make the score 24-16. 

Nazareth continued to work their way back pulling to within three points, 30-27, with: 50 seconds left in the first.  The Ducks scored a free throw in the: 30 seconds to take the 31-27 lead at the half.
 
Brew was fouled past the three-point line and scored all three of her free throws with 17:34 left in the second half to tie the game and then give Nazareth the lead 33-31.  The Golden Flyers held the narrow lead for nearly nine minutes until 8:10 when the Ducks scored to re-take a 41-40 lead and never looked back.
 
Brew led Nazareth with 15 points while Lindsey Kelly finished with 12 points, shooting 5-for-8 from the field.  Kelly also led the Golden Flyers with 8 rebounds.  Hannah Runyon had eight points, Veronica Peck and Maria Allocco each had five.
 
Nazareth is on the road again playing at Ithaca on February 7 at 8 pm before returning home to host Houghton College on the 8th at 4 pm.
