Nazareth comes from behind to defeat Brockport, 66-56

BROCKPORT, NY – Nazareth came from behind to defeat the College at Brockport 66-56 in the Golden Eagle Tip-Off Tournament. Nazareth is now 2-0 while Brockport falls to 1-1. 
 
The Golden Eagles led the entire first half and by as much as 10 points at 7:58 when they led 20-10.  Brockport finished the first half with a 30-26 lead. 
 
Samantha Peebles came off the bench for Nazareth and scored 11 first-half points going a perfect 3-for-3 from behind the arc. 
 
In the second half Nazareth tied the score at 32-all off a Hannah Runyon three-pointer at 17:50.  Sam Sorge scored a three-pointer at 16:22 to give Nazareth its first lead of the game 35-32.
 
Brockport took the lead back, 36-35, off a pair of free-throws at 13:44. 
 
Nazareth went on a 13-1 run starting with Runyon scoring a three-pointer at 8:31 to tie the game at 45-45.  The Golden Flyers then regained the lead, 47-45, at 7:42 off a Sorge layup.  Nazareth continued to build on its lead going up by nine points, 55-46, and never looked back.
 
Nazareth had four players score in double digits with Sorge leading the way with 17 points going 5-of-9 from behind the arc.  Lindsey Kelly had 14, Peebles 11, and Runyon 10.  Melissa Reeves led Nazareth with seven rebounds and five assists before fouling out of the game.
 
Nazareth shot 44% from behind the arc for the game and had a 45-39 advantage in rebounds.

Sam Sorge and Lindsey Kelly were named to the All-Tournament team.

The Golden Flyers open up their home season Saturday, November 22 at 2 pm when they host Fredonia.
