OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth scored early in each half Wednesday and went on to take a 2-0 non-conference field hockey victory over Oswego.

For the Golden Flyers, the game marked their second straight shutout win and improved their overall record to 3-2. The Golden Flyers open their Empire 8 Conference schedule Saturday at home against Stevens at 1 p.m. Oswego dropped to 1-3 overall.

Nazareth got on the scoreboard just over four minutes into the game on an unassisted goal by sophomore Maria Martini (Clinton, NY), who scored for the first time this season.

The score stayed 1-0 through halftime, then senior Kelly Flanagan (Fairport, NY) scored her team-leading third goal of the season just two minutes into the second half with junior Emily Conway (Fairport, NY) gaining an assist.

The rest of the game was in the capable defensive hands of junior goalie Kelsey Evans (Penfield, NY), who made three saves in 70 minutes for her second shutout of the season and sixth of her career.
