Nazareth finishes in 7th place

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Sophomore Michelle Van Slyke posted Nazareth's low score Sunday as Nazareth's women's golf team completed the second round of the Vassar Invitational at Casperkill Country Club.

Van Slyke followed up Saturday's 89 with an 86 Sunday for a two-day score of 175 to help Nazareth maintained its seventh-place standing in the 10-team field. Amherst won the event with a team score of 668. Middlebury was second at 670, followed by Vassar (678), Cortland (707), Mt. Holyoke (712), St. Lawrence (712). Nazareth score was 739 for seventh place. New York University (777), William Smith (804) and Ithaca (955) settled in behind Nazareth.

Junior Meghan Hardy scored 88 each day to finish with a 176 total and a 21st-place finish individually. Junior Kate Holland had 91 and 94 for 185 and 29th place. Sophomore Elizabeth Mitro (111-92 -- 203) and junior Bridget Burkart (134-112 -- 246) also competed.
