Swimmers join in Hour of Power

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth's men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be participating Tuesday in the Ted Mullin Hour of Power from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.

Nazareth will join approximately 6,000 other athletes from 120 colleges, high schools and clubs across the country to participate in this fund-raising event for Pediatric Sarcoma Research. The event is sponsored by the Carleton College swimming and diving teams of Northfield, Minn. The event is in honor of former Carleton swimmer Ted Mullin, who passed away from synovial sarcoma in September of 2006.

"It's a great way for our swimmers to give back to the community," said Nazareth Coach Martie Staser. "It's a great cause and a great team builder."

As of Oct. 30, 96 college programs from 33 conferences had signed up to participate. The event is held in each team's home pool and is a one-hour continuous relay. Since the event began three years ago, more than $112,000 has been raised for the Ted Mullin Fund. Nazareth's team has raised more than $200 for 2009-10 and will continue to fund-raise over the course of the season.
