Nazareth tops Hartwick, 8-1

Golden Flyers improve to 5-3 overall

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Host Nazareth won all three doubles matches plus five of the six singles contests Sunday as the Golden Flyers defeated Hartwick in an Empire 8 women's tennis match, 8-1.

Nazareth improved its overall record to 5-3, including a 5-2 mark in conference matches.

Senior Rachel Leonard improved to 7-1 in singles matches with a straight-set win over Hartwick's Betsy Breaznell. Senior Danielle Carinci, juniors Jackeline Martinez and Elizabeth Way and sophomore Kelly Noble also won singles matches.

Leonard and Martinez were victorious at first doubles while Carinci teamed with senior Jess Faber for a second doubles win. Way combined with sophomore Sherrita Wilkins for a close win at third doubles.

Nazareth hosts the University of Rochester Tuesday in a non-conference match.
