ONEONTA, N.Y. -- Visiting Nazareth won seven of the 13 events Sunday, but Hartwick used its depth to defeat the Golden Flyers in a women's swimming and diving meet, 133-110. The loss dropped the Golden Flyers to 3-3. Hartwick also won the men's meet, 133-80.
Freshman
Jaclyn Conklin and junior
Erin Rappold each won two events for the Golden Flyers. Conklin also swam on Nazareth's winning 400-yard freestyle relay team that included freshmen
Sara Weigel and Rachael Phelps and junior
Lauren McKinney.
Conklin won the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in :26.08 and :57.09 respectively. Rappold finished first in the 1,000- and 500-yard freestyles in 10:59.20 and 5:26.58 respectively.
Nazareth also got firsts from McKinney in the 200 IM (2:18.23) and junior
Lindsey Buzard in 3-meter diving (180.90). Buzard also placed second in 1-meter diving (186.80) and Weigel had a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle (2:03.16).
Hartwick was helped by producing 1-2 finishes in three events -- the 400 medley relay, the 200 butterfly and the 200 backstroke -- to account for 43 points.
In the men's meet, Hartwick kept the Golden Flyers winless by capturing all 13 events. Junior
Rob Wortel had third-place finishes in the 200- and 100-yard freestyles in 1:58.97 and :51.94 respectively. Junior Matt Brown was second in 1-meter diving (210.75).
