ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior midfielder Julie Paska was Nazareth's lone first-team representative Wednesday with the announcement of the Empire 8 Conference all-star team for field hockey. The teams were selected through voting by the league's seven head coaches.

Paska was a second-team selection in 2007 and an honorable mention choice in 2006. Sophomore defender Emily Conway was named to the second team along with junior forward Kelly Flanagan. Senior midfielder Kristen McIntyre was named honorable mention. In addition, junior Catherine Beers was Nazareth's conference representative as Sportswoman of the Year.

Paska, of Fort Edward, N.Y. and a graduate of South Glens Falls High School, was Nazareth's second leading scorer in 2008 with 13 points on six goals and three assists. Two of her goals were game-winners. She also started all 17 games for the Golden Flyers.

Conway and Flanagan, both from Fairport, also started all 17 games for the Golden Flyers. Conway contributed one goal and one assist and Flanagan led the team with 22 points on 10 goals and two assists.  Flanagan ranks third on Nazareth's all-time scoring list with 71 points on 34 goals and three assists.
