ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Senior Rachel Leonard, who played at first singles for the Nazareth tennis team this fall, has been named as a first-team all-star by the Empire 8 Conference for the fourth year in a row.

The all-conference teams were selected through voting by the league's nine head coaches. In addition to Leonard, the doubles tandem of Leonard and junior Jackie Martinez was selected to the second team. Senior Danielle Carinci was an honorable mention selection for singles while Carinci and senior Jessica Faber made honorable mention for doubles.

Junior Elizabeth Way was the Golden Flyers' representative as the Empire 8 Conference Sportswoman of the Year.

Leonard, of Palmyra, N.Y. and a graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School, posted an 8-3 record at first singles this fall, including a 7-1 mark in Empire 8 matches. Her 64 career singles victories rank her fourth all time at Nazareth.

In doubles matches, Leonard and Martinez posted a 6-5 record, including a 6-2 mark against conference opponents. Leonard also has 56 career doubles wins.

Carinci, of Oneida, N.Y. and a graduate of Oneida High School, finished 6-4 at third singles for the Golden Flyers this fall with a 6-2 record in conference matches. The doubles team of Carinci and Faber finished 6-5.
