• One of the first star athletes at Nazareth College, Ed Darling competed as a freestyler on the men's swim team for four years
• Was Nazareth's leading point scorer in each of his four seasons at Nazareth, totaling 891.25 points overall
• Won 84 of 94 career dual meet races and was a four-time national meet qualifier
• At one time, Darling held school records in four freestyle events: 100, 200, 500, and 1,000. His record time of 1:45.86 in the 200 freestyle stood for 19 years
• Served as team captain for three years
