• Nazareth's first All-American in men's lacrosse, Coons led the Golden Flyers in scoring in each of his four seasons of participation
• Graduated as Nazareth's all-time scoring leader with 312 points on 138 goals and 174 assists
• Set schools records for most career assists (174), most assists in one season (71), most points in one season (112), and most points in one game (13).
• Earned All-American honors in 1988 (third team) and 1989 (first team)
• Selected to compete in North-South Senior all-star game in 1989
• Named Nazareth's Offensive MVP in 1986, 1988, and 1989
• Led Nazareth to NCAA Division III playoff appearances in 1988 and 1989
