Cal Wickens, coach and director of the Rochester Volleyball Club for nearly three decades, is back for his fourth season as coach of the Nazareth men's volleyball team.

Nazareth started the men's volleyball program in 2005 and Wickens quickly established the Golden Flyers as one of the top Division III teams in the country as their name routinely pops up in the AVCA national rankings.

Wickens led Nazareth to a 23-7 overall record in 2007. The Golden Flyers lost to Eastern Mennonite in the semifinals of the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association tournament. Wickens, who has a three-year record of 53-29, was honored as co-Coach of the Year in the NECVA Western Division.

Wickens joined the Nazareth athletic staff in 2003 as head coach of the women's volleyball team. In five seasons, he has compiled a record of 104-55 with three NCAA Tournament berths. He was named Empire 8 Conference Coach of the Year in 2006.

A native of Santa Monica, Calif., Wickens started the Rochester Volleyball Club in 1979. The club includes the Volley FX girls' team and the Pace Bootlegger boys' team. The boys' team won the 18-and-under AAU National Championship in 1990 and has been national runner-up six other times. The team also captured the USA Men's National Championship in 2000.

Wickens also has coached at numerous camps and clinics and served for 10 years as try-out coach for the USA High Performance/Youth National Team.

Wickens has an Associate in Occupational Studies degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y.
