Welch helped the Golden Flyers open their indoor track and field season in impressive fashion Saturday as he finished first in both the 200- and 400-meter dashes. His time of :52.34 in the 400 was a personal best, while his time of :23.71 in the 200 was a couple of ticks shy of his personal best. He also anchored Nazareth's 4 x 400-meter relay that placed second in 3:40.14. Nazareth won the meet over Roberts Wesleyan 63-49.
