Dunkelberg opened the 2019-20 swim season in impressive fashion Saturday as the Golden Flyers competed against Geneseo in a non-conference meet at Webster Aquatic Center. He won the 50-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of :21.24 and ranks sixth nationally in that event. He also placed second in the 100 freestyle in a close race with a time of :48.76. He anchored the runner-up 200 medley relay (1:36.84) with a :20.70 50 freestyle split and swam on the winning 200 free relay (1:25.62), which featured a split of :20.44.
