Lafaver was named Empire 8 Conference Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year.

Lafaver, of Syracuse, N.Y. and a graduate of West Genesee High School, enjoyed a fine season both indoor and outdoors. He won the conference outdoor title in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.17. He also won the NYSCTC title and further lowered his time of 1:52.97 at the Oneonta May Meet and ranked 26th nationally in that event.

Over the winter, Lafaver also was named E8 Indoor Track Athlete of the Year after winning the conference title in the 400-meter dash (:51.56) and then the 800-meter title at the NYSCTC meet. His best indoor 800-meter time is 1:53.24 at the ECAC meet in March.
