ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Geneseo won three close doubles matches and then won five of six singles matches Wednesday as the Blue Knights defeated Nazareth in women's tennis, 8-1. The match was the season opener for both teams.

Freshman Alison Tepas accounted for Nazareth's lone point as she won by default at first singles over Geneseo's Monica Vieth.

Tepas also played with sophomore Alex Vizgaitis at first doubles, where Geneseo's duo of Vieth and Julia Passik rallied for an 8-6 win. At second doubles, Nazareth's twosome of Christine Cary and Kelly Noble lost 9-7, while Sherrita Wilkins and Cara Yinger lost 8-4 at third doubles.

Nazareth plays again Sunday as the Golden Flyers host Stevens in their Empire 8 Conference opener at 12 p.m.
