ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The academic year is officially over at Nazareth, but the spring sports season is just heating up for three of the Golden Flyers' athletic teams that will be competing this weekend for Empire 8 Conference championships.
Automatic berths to the NCAA Division III Tournament will be up for grabs for Nazareth in men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and men's tennis as all three teams take to the road for their respective tournaments.
Nazareth's men's lacrosse team, ranked 13th nationally, completed its regular-season schedule Tuesday with a 22-9 non-conference win over Medaille. The Golden Flyers (12-4 overall) are the third seed for the E8 Tournament and will travel to RIT (11-5 overall) Friday at 4 p.m. for a conference semifinal game. Top-seeded St. John Fisher (16-1 overall) hosts Ithaca (7-9) in the other semifinal. The winners meet Sunday at noon at the site of the highest seed.
Friday's game will be broadcast on local radio station WYSL (AM-1040 and FM-92.1) and can be accessed online at

Nazareth is seeking its eighth conference title since 2000 and its 19th NCAA Tournament appearance in its 25-year history.
Nazareth's women's lacrosse team is seeded fourth for this weekend's
conference tournament at Ithaca and the Golden Flyers will play the top-seeded Bombers (10-5 overall) in the semifinals Saturday at noon. Second-seeded Stevens (14-2 overall) plays RIT (11-4) in the other semifinal at 2 p.m. The championship game is Sunday at noon. All games will be available through

Nazareth is 10-5 overall and has been idle since April 25 when the Golden Flyers defeated Elmira 21-7. Nazareth is seeking its fifth conference title and seventh NCAA appearance.
Nazareth's men's tennis team (6-2 in E8 matches) is seeded third and travels to Stevens in search of its first E8 title. The Golden Flyers will play Stevens (7-1) Saturday at 1 p.m. Top-seeded Ithaca (8-0) plays RIT (5-3) in the other semifinal. The championship match is Sunday at 1 p.m.
